Himalayan Life Insurance CEO Manoj Kumar Lal Karna Resigns
Kathmandu. Manoj Kumar Lal Karna, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Himalayan Life Insurance Company has steps down from his post. Insurance agents for the company have been demonstrating and demanding that the incentive be increased to at least Rs 50 per unit. The agitation reportedly escalated on Monday when agents and staff allegedly barred the CEO and other staff members from entering the office building and demanded his immediate resignation. He said that he resigned because he was unable to provide the agent with the 50% incentive that was requested. Karna reportedly submitted his resignation earlier that afternoon due to the continued protests, which prevented him from entering the office.
Later, the board met to formally accept his resignation. Agents and staff reportedly took more drastic measures on Monday as the discontent neared a boiling point. They allegedly barred CEO Karna and other staff members from entering the company’s office building by blocking the entrance. Alongside this act of disobedience, Karna’s immediate resignation was specifically demanded. The company’s environment has gotten so unstable that it was unsuitable for negotiations or any kind of communication.
