Before jumping into the process, let’s have a look into the price that you might need to pay to register your phone if you have bought it from the grey market.
How much does it cost to register for MDMS?

What happens if my phone is not registered in MDMS?
Phones will simply stop working if they are not registered in MDMS.
Now, let’s go through the process of MDMS registration in Nepal for your smartphones.
For the people who have bought it from the abroad or got it as a gift from people who is working in abroad.
There is four steps of registration.
- Go to this link first https://mdms.nta.gov.np/individual-registration/validateImei
- Submit your IMEI numbers, Brand, Model and Submit the information that your phone is being used in Nepal or not. In this section, once you submitted the IMEI number and brand name, your model number will be displayed automatically.
- Click on Validate IMEI and continue.
- In step 2, you need to provide your own email where NTA will send your an OTP code. Sometime it might take a while so you need to have patience in this section. After submitting OTP code, Click on for the next form
- In Step 3, you need to provide the details like Point of entry and point of exit of the country that you are coming from along with your Passport, Immigration stamp and other details. You also need to provide the detail of the phone user if you are giving it to other person as a gift.
- In Step 4, Submit and you will get an email of submission.
- It might take days to approve your phone registration if you have provided all the details
